Delete your account

You can erase your account yourself, inside the app, in under a minute.

How to delete it

  1. Open Namaskara and sign in.
  2. Go to Security and choose Delete my account.
  3. Enter your password. If you use two-step verification, also enter your 6-digit code or a recovery code.
  4. Type DELETE and confirm.

It happens straight away. There is no waiting period and it cannot be undone.

Cannot sign in?

If you have lost your password and have no way to sign in, write to us through Contact from the situation you can prove, and we will help you to the extent we safely can. Because we do not verify mobile numbers in the pilot, we may not be able to erase an account for someone who cannot prove it is theirs.

What is erased

  • Your account: mobile number, display name and password hash.
  • Every signed-in session and your device encryption keys held by the server.
  • All messages you sent, and the files you uploaded, from our servers.
  • Your one-to-one chats, for the other person as well, because the server can no longer open a chat once one person is gone.
  • Your contacts, blocks, reports you made, tasks, agreements and report drafts.
  • Your seat in every group. A group nobody else is in is deleted. Otherwise another member becomes its admin and the group carries on.
  • Your identity-verification link, if you had one, and your security log.
  • On the phone you deleted from: your private keys and your saved preferences.

What is not erased

  • Copies on other people's phones. A message already delivered to someone lives on their device. We cannot reach into it.
  • Your pilot seat. The seat your invitation used stays used, and is no longer linked to you, so the pilot limit cannot be got around by deleting and joining again.
  • Server backups. Backups are not part of the pilot yet. When they exist, this page will state how long deleted data remains in them.
