Terms of service

Pilot release · Last updated 4 November 2026

Draft for legal review

These terms are a plain-language draft for the pilot. They will be reviewed by a lawyer and the operating entity will be named before public launch.

1. The service

Namaskara (“Namaskara”, “we”) provides end-to-end encrypted messaging, groups, file sharing and calls, with on-device fraud protection. The service is a pilot: features may change, and it may be unavailable at times.

2. Who can use it

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian as required by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. You must register with a mobile number that belongs to you. One person may hold one account.

3. Your account

Keep your password and recovery codes private. We will never ask for them. You are responsible for activity on your account. Because encryption keys stay on your devices, losing all your devices means losing access to your past messages.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use Namaskara to:

  • defraud, impersonate, threaten, harass or stalk anyone;
  • share child sexual abuse material, or intimate images without consent;
  • distribute malware, or try to get around the fraud protections;
  • send bulk unsolicited messages, or collect other people's numbers;
  • break any law in force in India.

We may restrict or remove accounts that break these rules, including automatically after repeated reports from different people.

5. Fraud protection is help, not a guarantee

Scam warnings and blocks are based on rules that run on your device. They can miss new scams and occasionally flag genuine messages. A missing warning does not mean a message is safe. We are not responsible for losses caused by third parties, but we will cooperate with lawful requests from authorities to the extent the encrypted design allows.

6. Content

You own what you send. We cannot read end-to-end encrypted content, and we do not claim any rights over it.

7. Grievances

See Contact & grievance.

8. Changes and ending

We will tell you about important changes in the app. You may stop using Namaskara at any time and ask us to delete your account.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India.
