We built the messenger we wanted for our parents.
Namaskara is made in India around one idea: a scam should fail even when someone believes it.
Why we started
Almost everyone in India knows someone who got the call: the parcel held at customs, the KYC about to expire, the officer on video saying you are under “digital arrest”. These scams do not break encryption. They talk people into handing over a code.
Messengers have become very good at privacy and very good at reach. None of them was built around the specific way fraud works in India, with our banks, our regulators, our languages and our families. So we built one that is.
What we believe
- Privacy and safety are not opposites. We protect you without reading your messages, by doing the checks on your own phone.
- Remove the ingredient, don't just warn. A warning can be ignored under pressure. An OTP that will not send cannot.
- No dark patterns. No fake “only 3 seats left” counters, no read receipts to pressure replies, no streaks.
- Respect for every Indian. Your avatar can wear a dastaar, a hijab or a tilak, but we never store your religion, and we never rank one choice above another.
- Say what we cannot do. Our pages list what is missing and where others are ahead.
Where we are
Namaskara is in a small invite-only pilot. The app works for chats, groups, files and one-to-one calls, with on-phone scam protection in 11 languages. Push notifications, voice notes, group calls and an iPhone app are next.
Made in India, with care for the details
The design takes its colours from sandstone, marigold, indigo and Makrana marble, and its patterns from jali screens and monument skylines. We deliberately do not use the national flag as decoration, out of respect for the Flag Code of India.
