Three features people asked for on day one. Each looks familiar, and each has one decision we made differently.
Replies, with the quote encrypted too
Long-press a message and tap Reply. The short quote travels inside the end-to-end encryption, so the server cannot even see which message you answered. The quote also goes through the same check that stops OTPs, so “replying” cannot be used to sneak a code past it.
Reactions that are you
Instead of a generic yellow face, your reaction is your own Apna Chehra drawing: smiling, saying namaste, or “shabaash”. We left out angry, crying and thumbs-down on purpose. A reaction should add warmth, not pile on. The one safety reaction, “Feels off”, is private: it opens a second look at the message and is never sent.
Disappearing messages that really disappear
Pick 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days. When time is up, the encrypted message and every device's key copy are deleted from the server. One exception: a message from someone you have not accepted can never disappear. Scams start with a cold message, and if it happens to you, you need that evidence for 1930.
